I will get an 1176 again but for now with my budget the buzz is the way to go.Ī saying you hear all the time on GS is " yeah it's very clean but it has character, vibe, balls, etc." I don't think I really understood what this meant until I got the Buzz SOC1.1 It's faster than the 225ls and while it's clean its got mojo. Perhaps a good compliment to an 1176 which is also fast would be a buzz soc 1.1. On Strident vocalists the API 225L is among the worst comps of all time. As for vocals I find the API 225l wonderous on people (mainly females) who know how to sing. Only on acoustic guitar, electric guitar and syths do I use "fast" with API. I love the API 225L "medium" attack (they say 17ms) on the drum bus-way more than any 1176 setting. OTOH, the 1176 has an attack time in microseconds. Its not fast enough to "flatline" a signal without detrimental overshoot. API says its something like 2ms but its slower than that. If I'm not mistaken fast on the API 225L is the same as fast on the 2500 which is is not very fast. While I can't vouch for the Api 2500, I spent enough time with the API 225L and an old 1176 side by side. What would be ? Distressor, API ?I don't understand an 1176 is a very, very fast compressor. I'm working now with UA 1176LN and I'm thinking to add one more compressor, uncoloured and very faster and dynamic.
